Heather Jarvis graduated from Missouri State University in 2007 with a degree in print journalism and creative writing. Before moving to Summit County in 2010, she was the news editor at The Examiner in Independence, Mo. As the music reporter for her university’s paper and a previous intern and freelancer for Marquee Magazine in Boulder, Heather enjoys hearing and writing about live music. She loves to travel, particularly to go to a music festival or show, and also enjoys snowboarding, hiking with her dog, camping, rafting and a good southern Missouri canoe trip. Antonio Olivero is sports editor for the Summit Daily News. Antonio has settled into the High Country life after driving cross-country from another region known for its wilderness, skiing and iconic mountains: the Adirondacks and Lake Placid, New York in the state’s North Country. A graduate of Syracuse University and a proud alum of The Daily Orange student newspaper, Antonio grew up playing basketball in and around New York City and worked as a journalist for several publications in the Tri-State area before relocating to Lake Placid in 2015. There he fell in love with hiking the Adirondack 46 High Peaks and all the mountain lifestyle had to offer, which has led him to pursue even bigger thrills and stories here in Summit County. MORE

Sawyer D’Argonne is a crime and public safety reporter for the Summit Daily News, and a former general news reporter at the Sky-Hi News in Granby. A Colorado native, he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Denver, where he worked as a sports writer for the DU Clarion and as an editorial assistant for the University of Denver Magazine. He earned his master’s degree at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, while taking classwork in the documentary program and at the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism. He produced and directed a documentary short film called “Family Comics” in 2017, exploring the history and censorship of the LGBTQ community in mainstream comic books and popular culture.

Eli Pace is a Colorado native with more than 15 years professional journalism experience. He grew up on Colorado's eastern plains, graduating high school in Fort Morgan before earning his journalism degree at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. After graduation, Eli landed in the South, where he would spend the next decade climbing the ranks at newspapers in Tennessee and Kentucky before deciding to come home and continue his career in the state where he cut his teeth. Over the course of 15 years in the journalism industry, Eli has worked almost every position a newspaper has to offer, including sports, features and news, first as an agate clerk and later as a reporter, copy editor, night editor, section editor and managing editor. As the managing editor for the Kentucky New Era, a small daily newspaper in western Kentucky, for almost five years, Eli led a staff that consistently finished in the state’s top three in the coveted general excellence category. He also won best feature writing in 2015 and a host of other individual honors for his writing, page design and photography.

Deepan Dutta covers Summit County government, public lands, health, environment, education, and the ski industry for the Summit Daily News. He comes to the Summit Daily after getting his Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder. Deepan is also a practicing lawyer, receiving his law degree from University of Colorado Law School in 2010. He was born and raised in New York City, spending seven years off and on in his parents’ home country of Bangladesh. Deepan’s experience in Bangladesh, a country constantly embroiled in political and religious turmoil, gave him a deep appreciation of a truly free press that can hold power to account. When he’s not in front of his laptop or chasing the next interview, Deepan enjoys taking his dog Bubbles to explore the vast and wild frontier that is Summit. He is also a fiction writer chasing inspiration wherever he can find it, and hopes to publish a novel one day.

Hugh Carey graduated from the University of Montana’s School of Journalism in his hometown of Missoula with a degree in photojournalism. His internships include the Missoulian in Missoula, Mont., Deseret News in Salt Lake City, Utah, and MLive’s Grand Rapids Press in Grand Rapids, Mich. He start working for Summit Daily News in May 2017 after a year as a staff photojournalist for the Wyoming Tribune Eagle in Cheyenne, Wyo. He can be found in the wilderness in Colorado with poles, pedals, or/and paddles when not working.

Lex Rodgers is a copy editor for the Summit Daily News. She graduated from Ohio University’s Scripps College of Journalism in Athens, Ohio, with a bachelor’s in visual communication. There, she worked for the local paper managing advertising accounts, but really fell in love with design after attending a news-specific conference in San Francisco and meeting the most amazing designers from all across the globe. After graduating, Lex left for Chicago to work in advertising, but soon realized she'd rather live in the mountains and help tell stories than sell things. She packed up her car and moved to Washington State where she freelanced while working for a ski resort. Lex now calls Breckenridge home, where she's able to work and play as much as she's always wanted to.

Jefferson Geiger is a copy editor for the Summit Daily News. He kindled his passion for storytelling at Colorado State University in Fort Collins as the senior entertainment reporter for their student newspaper, the Rocky Mountain Collegian, while earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Originally from Pennsylvania, he and his family moved to Alamosa over a decade ago to embrace the mountain lifestyle. There, Geiger most recently worked as a reporter and award-winning photographer for the Valley Courier and was previously a freelance video game journalist for ZAM and GameSpot.
